The federal government is touting an “Affordable Daycare Program”  – which I totally support by the way.  Everybody knows someone who needs daycare – men, women; single parents, dual parents, same sex parents; Canadians, immigrants…you name it, people need it.

Financially, public funding for a daycare is a smart idea.  For every $1 that is invested into daycare, $1.50 is returned back into the economy.

During the last federal election, I asked a local MP about what they are doing to help ensure that there are daycare spots to make affordable.  His response was that it was a provincial responsibility to regulate the daycare spots.

Unfortunately, as I’ve discovered in the process, that setting up a daycare is a challenge in itself.  And you can’t have “affordable” daycare if there are no daycares to make “affordable.”
